Outrage Bonus – Reclaiming the Narrative at America 250

Aired Jul 2 2026

As we approach the United Statesโ€™ 250th anniversary, many citizens feel understandably conflicted, torn between recognizing the nation’s foundational promise and grappling with the stark realities of our polarized presentโ€”where national pride has hit a 25-year record low.

Look no further than the milestone itself: what was meant to be a unified national moment has instead fractured into a turf war between two rival planning organizations. On one side is America250, the official, non-partisan congressional commission created to build a shared, inclusive commemoration. On the other is Freedom 250, a heavily branded, politically aligned initiative launched out of the Trump White House.

When a shared, non-partisan milestone is split by a competing, politically branded alternative, itโ€™s easy to see why so many Americans feel completely turned off and exhausted. Yet, opting out of this milestone due to cynicism cedes the very narrative we need to reclaim.

In this special episode of Outrage Overload, we are stepping back from the constant cycles of toxic polarization and media manipulation to explore the enduring power of America’s foundational idealsโ€”liberty, equality, and self-government. To help us navigate this, Iโ€™ve invited a few friends of the showโ€”guests weโ€™ve spoken with beforeโ€”to share their perspectives on this anniversary.
