Outrage Bonus – When “Listen to the Other Side” Isn’t Enough (Emergency Panel)

Aired Jul 24, 2024

Feeling burnt out by the constant outrage, amplified by recent events like the turmoil in the presidential race and unsettling court decisions? You’re not alone.

Many of you have reached out, frustrated that attempts at civil discourse haven’t yielded the results you hoped for. We hear you.

This special bonus episode is for you.

We’re bringing together communication experts Phyllis Leavitt and Lisa Swallow for an “emergency panel” discussion.

Even in these challenging times, there are things we can do. Together, let’s explore new approaches for fostering connection and creating positive change.

Phyllis Leavitt, a psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience, witnessed the impact of family dysfunction on individuals and society. This led her to write “America in Therapy,” urging the nation to heal from its wounds for a more peaceful future. She is the author of two other books on personal healing and currently resides in Taos, NM.

Lisa K. Swallow is the co-founder and executive director of Crossing Party Lines, a national nonprofit creating an open dialogue between Americans with dissimilar ideologies. She has developed a series of workshops teaching the concepts, skills, and techniques for having civil, respectful conversations with people who view the world differently.
